How to get there

To walk to the Ribera de San Benito from Villanueva de la Jara, we will leave the village by Santa Ana Street and cross the CM-3122 road. At the crossroads we will see the Estadio Banderas Campo de Fútbol de La Jara on our right.

Then we will follow the path Vereda de Santa Ana and we will discover how the Jara landscapes widen beautifully.

Road from Lavajo del Buitre to Ribera de San Benito

At the beginning of the road we can see some mushroom cellars, always on the right side and some private and fenced plots. Also grape crops for wine of the Manchuela, that when passing the first pine forests are on our left.

Continuing we will continue towards the Lavajo del Buitre.

How far is it from La Jara to Ribera de San Benito?

The distance to travel on the route to San Benito, from Villanueva de la Jara, is a little more than thirteen kilometers.

If you want to get to San Benito from other nearby towns, the distances are, from Casasimarro around six kilometers. To arrive from El Picazo we have to travel a total of three kilometers. This is the closest town to the Ribera de San Benito.


It is because of the proximity to these localities that they celebrate the last Saturday/Sunday of September Pilgrimage to the Virgin of Loreto and San Benito.

The enormous scenic beauty of the banks of the Júcar, its poplars and the different points that invite contemplation, make this tradition a great mobilization of neighbors. They usually make «torrás» of lamb chops in the field to taste it during the day.

It is typical to go up to the hermitage and ring the bell. There are traditions that are still maintained, such as processions with songs so that there is no lack of rain in the countryside.
